Benefits
Safety Bonus Pay
Upon meeting the below listed requirements, Over-the-Road Drivers receive a Safety Bonus of $0.01 per mile with a $150.00 minimum, and Dedicated / Hourly drivers receive a Safety Bonus of $150.00 (flat) per quarter.
- Must be physically and legally able to work
- No preventable accidents
- No preventable incidents (damage to company equipment, equipment of others, or property of others).
- No lost time due to on-the-job injuries
- No moving violations or out of service write-ups due to log book violations
- Legal logs must be submitted neatly, accurately and in a timely manner
- No logbook, moving or hazmat violations on a DOT roadside inspection
All drivers that receive four consecutive quarters of safety bonuses will receive an additional $150.00 annual bonus.

Referral Bonus Pay
Referral Bonuses of $750.00 are paid as follows:
- $250.00 initial payment when your referral successfully completes the 90 day introductory period.
- $100.00 per month thereafter as long as your referral stays with the company until you have received the balance of $500.00.
Other Driver Pay
The following compensation items apply to both Company Drivers and Contractors, except where indicated.
- Stop Off Pay: $15.00 per stop (not including the final stop)
- Loading / Unloading: Whenever a driver is asked to load or unload, they will be compensated for their work. This is determined on a case-by-case basis by Fleet Managers and can be paid on an hourly basis, or by a set fee. For contractors with loads working on a percentage basis, stops, loading or unloading is built into the rate. No other compensation will be made.
- Special Cases: Occasionally Volume will have special freight which carries pay that applies only to the loading/unloading/delivery of that particular freight. Currently, the following are in force:
- Kmart store deliveries out of California Cartage, $100.00 per trailer to unload
- Kmart store deliveries out of Newnan DC, $95.00 per trailer to unload
- Glidden Paint out of Oakwood, GA (to ICI stores only), $45.00 per trailer to tailgate
- Whirlpool out of Ellenwood, GA, $45.00 per trailer to tailgate
- Detention Pay: Detention is paid to Company Drivers at $8.50 per hour, and to Contractors at $20.00 per hour. Detention pay is determined on a case-by-case basis by your Fleet Manager. The amount of detention depends on the customer. Volume must allow different customers 2, 3, 4 or sometimes more hours free before we start the clock to bill. Drivers are paid detention only when Volume can bill the customer for the time.
- Layover Pay / Breakdown Pay: $35.00 for half layover, and $75.00 for full layover (each full 24 hour period following the first 24 hour period). Your Fleet Managers will determine what you are due on a case-by-case basis. Drivers will not receive Layover or Breakdown pay if it is determined that they caused or contributed to the situation by their own actions.
- Equipment Shuttle Pay / Local Work: Depending on the circumstances, your Fleet Managers will determine what you are due on a case-by-case basis. You may be paid by the hour, or by a set fee.
- Trip Advances: Volume will allow personal advances up to $125.00 per calendar week (Tuesday to Monday). There is a $1.75 fee for each transaction. All personal advances, as well as any transaction charges, will be deducted from the next payroll.

Paid Time Off: Vacation
Permanent, full time company drivers who have completed the 90-day introductory period are eligible for Vacation Pay.
The dollar amount of Vacation Pay for Over-the-Road Drivers is paid based on the average miles driven during the previous twelve-month period. The dollar amounts for Local and Hourly Drivers are based on the average gross pay amount for the previous twelve-month period. Part time and temporary drivers, as well as drivers who are on leave of absence, are not eligible for Vacation Pay.

Paid Time Off: Holiday Pay
Permanent, full time company drivers who have completed the 90 day introductory period are eligible for Holiday Pay. Volume Transportation observes the following holidays:
- New Years Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day and
- Christmas Day
Eligible drivers will receive $75.00 per day for any Company observed holiday. To receive Holiday Pay, drivers must be available for work on the day immediately preceding the holiday and the day immediately following the holiday.
Holidays occurring on a Saturday or a Sunday will be observed either the preceding Friday or the following Monday. Management will determine when the holiday will be observed based on customer requirements. Drivers will be notified of management's decision as far in advance as possible.
